Sound Therapy - Tibetan Bowls

Bowls

Almost everything we experience in the universe is simply our perception of waves.

As sound waves reach our ears, they are converted into electrical signals that travel via nerves to the auditory cortex, the part of the brain that processes sound. The sound waves trigger responses in the body that may alter emotions and release hormones and chemicals, which affect both our bodies and our moods.

When different tones are played to each ear, a third (internal) tone is created called a binaural beat. This is understood to synchronize the brain, providing clarity, calmness, and faster communication between the mind and body.

Our bodies can respond to sounds or tones by adjusting our own frequency to suit it.

Since we are made up of mostly water, it is easy for the water to pick up the resonance and vibrations of sound and transfer them around our bodies, through our muscles, bones, organs and subtle energy systems.

What should I expect from a Sound Therapy Session?

ReikiRoom

During a Sound Therpay session you will lie on a comfortable mat on the floor, surrounded by tibetan bowls.

This is your opportunity to close your eyes and relax. An eye pillow can be provided to assist with this.

Individual bowls will be played and moved close to areas of your body. The bowls surrounding you will be also be played.

You will experience the vibration from the tibetan bowls.

The vibration and sound may evoke an emotional response, but most experience deep relaxation or a meditative state.

Time permitting, and with your permission, Reiki can also be used to finish the session.
